GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY FOR $7 MILLION EXPANSION AT THE CULINARY TRAINING ACADEMY

On July 10th, construction began at the Culinary Training Academy on a 25,000 square foot expansion and remodeling of the existing structure. The expansion is being funded by Federal Grants and a car rental tax thanks to political work over the last couple of years by Local 226. The project design is by S&H Architects who has a long track record with our Strip hotels. This expansion will include, among other things, a new kitchen, banquet restaurant and housekeeping training area.

The CTA offers upgrade

training for many culinaryclassifications including those wishing to become Bar Porters and Apprentice Bartenders. Wine/Sommelier classes are also offered for our Bartenders wishing to expand their knowledge in that area. Free classes are available to most union members working on the Strip, although scholarships and grants may be available to members working on other union properties.
