Companies continue coming up with new gimmicks in an attempt to take away our rights as senior union workers! Some examples of these gimmicks include creating new classifications such as dancing, entertaining, and modeling. They will forever continue trying to divide us. (It’s called the Divide and Conquer method). It is imperative that we do not fall under their evil spell.

TitusThe method is really just a way to weed out the older most senior workers and plant new youthful workers. The companies today are not concerned with our experience and expertise; rather they have a deep desire to employ the young and the beautiful. They are bypassing their legal and contractual obligation to award shifts by regular classification.

We have some very rough waters ahead with contact
negotiations right around the corner. We need to be very diligent in organizing.

I would like to share some examples of the garbage that is being distributed…

Lana, Brandon, Dina Titus.

ReidAt the Las Vegas Hilton, the following information was printed in the recently updated employee handbook and distributed to all the workers (they were also required to sign that they received a copy)…

UNIONS or THIRD PARTY REPRESENTATION

The Company believes in working directly with its employees to ensure a harmonious and safe workenvironment. The Company’s “open-door” policy means that Employees should and are able to meet directly with Supervisors and Managers to discuss and address Employee concerns. The Company strongly believes the current direct cooperation and dialogue between Management and its individual Employees is the preferred way of conducting its business and that the presence of a union or other third party as an Employee representative diminishes this dialogue. The Company further believes that its Employees are better off without such representation. The Company seeks to provide fair and competitive wages and other benefits to its Employees. Employees do not have to pay union dues or other expenses and are able to work without the threat of strikes or other work stoppages. However, the Company recognizes and complies with all laws concerning the rights of Employees to advocate and choose union presentation.

In a recent Station Casinos newsletter…

When employees ask… Why is the union visiting me at home? How do they know where I live? How do they know my schedule? How did they get my name? An Employee Relations Manager stated, “Each time, I tell Team Members they have the right to slam the door in the union representative’s face, to call the authorities, squirt them with their water hose, and they can tell them how happy they are that they work for one of Fortune 100 Best Places To Work.”
