BOBBY MOYA

SHOP STEWARD

Bobby MoyaBorn in Victoria, Texas, Bobby moved to Las Vegas with his family when he was six years old. His parents, Robert & Lillie saw the opportunity for a better life with the benefits afforded to them as a union family. His father has been a union worker since 1970 which allowed his mother to stay home and raise the family.
Bobby comes from a strong union family in Las Vegas with his two uncles being union members since 1958 and 1960, as well as his brother Roland who is also union bartender.
His other brothers are Ronnie who is a bartender, and Ruben who works for Clark County; sisters Ruth who works for North Las Vegas Police Dept., and Rachel who is a housewife in Mississippi.

Bobby became a union member with his first job as an apprentice bartender at the age of 21. He knew he wanted to be a part of the union because of his family’s history and the benefits of being in the union. He began his career in 1984 at Binion’s and has remained there since as a bartender. He walked the picket line in 1990 for ten months and was arrested several times for civil disobedience when striking “Binion’s Horseshoe”. He has seen many changes throughout the years with four different owners and numerous management teams. Even with all those changes, many of the union members like Bobby have remained working there due to the job security as provided in the union contracts.
He became a Shop Steward two years ago to help ensure that the union representation remained strong and because he wanted to give something back for all the years the union was there for him and his family.
Being single, Bobby enjoys working out, riding his jet ski and taking trips on his motorcycle. He also enjoys vacationing in Texas and visiting relatives.
